Scarlett Johnson, a parent advocate from Wisconsin and a member of Moms for Liberty, shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that "Confucius Classrooms," which are designed to teach Chinese language and culture and foster relations with the Chinese government are operating in the United States.

“Confucius say...commie indoctrination camps,” Johnson stated in a tweet July 30.

A recent report finds that these classrooms are funded and programmed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), according to Parents Defending Education, an organization dedicated to “reclaiming schools from activists imposing harmful agendas.”

Currently, there are 13 Confucius Institutes operating in several states including Minnesota, Kentucky, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington, PDE reported. Another 108 institutes have either closed or are in the process of closing.

These institutes have poured nearly $18 million into more than 140 U.S. school districts in 34 states and the District of Columbia, and “disturbingly” close to 20 military bases, according to PDE.

Parents Defending Education recently sent their findings in letters to Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, the chairwoman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mike Rogers, of Alabama, and Rep. Mike McCaul, of Texas, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, according to Fox News.

Similar letters were sent to 33 governors, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Fox News reported.

"State and federal officials should immediately begin investigations to determine the scope of China’s involvement, influence, and access to our K-12 student information and curriculum," PDE wrote in their report. "This report should be made public once complete, so parents can make informed decisions on their children’s involvement in these controversial programs. Families should also have full access to view how these cultural and language immersion programs are financed."
